  1. I’ve been hearing a lot about how HuffPo editors use metrics to continuously improve story placement and headline writing. This could be fodder for a session on the smart use of real-time metrics — pros and cons, ethics of etc.

Happy to help organize this if you want. Guess I should renew my ONA membership… 😉

  2. Hoping for some sessions with Silicon Valley technologists (non-news industry). Always great to get outside our industry for perspective on new technology and content distribution and monetization.

Also, would love to have a session on mobile, social and new methods of distribution (beyond paper & web)

  3. Hoping there will be another session on related research. If so, whom should I contact about possible idea? Thanks.

  4. Hi Leslie —
    E-mail your idea to ONA09ideas@journalists.org.

  5. Russ,
I do like that idea about metrics. More journalists should know and understand them, along with web producers.

We did this real-time analysis at AOL and were able to manage traffic to certain stories and features based on choices for photo selection, placement, and copy writing, then adjust with tweaks.

This is one of the reason’s I’m always promoting the use of relevant words with hyperlinks. Let me know if I can help!
