September 17, 2009 | By | Category: Top Story

General sessions at the 2009 Online News Association Conference, Oct. 2-3 in San Francisco, have sold out. This is the third year in a row the conference has reached capacity, with approximately 650 registrants expected to attend.

Registration is still open for the Career Summit & Job Fair and Pre-Conference Workshops on Oct. 1.

The Career Summit & Job Fair is just $25 for members ($50 for non-members) and features practical career development sessions with industry leaders such as Dean Takahashi, of VentureBeat; Neil Chase, of Federated Media; Sam Silverstein, of Yahoo; and Krista Canfield, of LinkedIn. Attendees can also meet with career coaches from Howard-Sloan-Koller and Joe Grimm, of Poynter’s "Ask the Recruiter."

Pre-Conference Workshops include beginner and intermediate video production sessions, a Django workshop with Aron Pilhofer of The New York Times, an innovation brainstorming tutorial with IDEO, tips on finding financing for media projects with J-Lab and a hands-on Facebook API tutorial.

If you’re unable to attend ONA09, plans are under way to live stream keynote presentations from Evan Williams, Leo Laporte and Lisa Stone, the Online Journalism Awards and select sessions. Details will be released as soon as arrangements have been finalized.

Sponsors, exhibitors, recruiters and OJA finalists who have not completed their registrations should contact Sherry Skalko at sskalko@journalists.org.

In the event you need to cancel your registration, you are entitled to a 100% refund if the request is received by 5 p.m. ET today (Sept. 17) and a 50% refund if it is received between 5:01 p.m. ET Sept. 17 and 5 p.m. ET, Sept. 30. No refunds will be made after 5 p.m. ET on Sept. 30. All requests must be made in writing to ONA09@journalists.org.

Thank you to all who have registered and here’s to another successful conference!

Cheers,
Jane McDonnell
Executive Director
